Our Wedding

Our Story

It all began when Amber joined John's team at Police Comms. John noticed her straight away, though it wasn't just her smile that caught his attention. Reading Amber's "Who Am I?" profile in the team newsletter revealed someone with kindness, empathy, and compassion (qualities John values) and which were reflected in her volunteering with Radio Lollipop. John also saw Amber was the owner of a cute cat, Possum, which made him quietly convinced she was pretty special. Winning Amber over wasn't quite as easy. She made John work for it, but thanks to a few colleagues with very loose lips, she knew he liked her. By the time he asked, she wasn't exactly surprised. Thankfully, she (eventually) agreed to a first date. That first date wasn't anything fancy. After John tactically offered to carpool to a work function, they snuck off early and sat in his car overlooking the city lights, eating garlic bread. As unconventional as it sounds, it was the perfect start. Amber will say she agreed to it because of the flamingo print shirt John was wearing at the time, but really, it’s because he was easy-going and funny. She felt like she had known him forever. From late-night beach walks after work to countless adventures together, what started with garlic bread flourished into a relationship full of love, laugher and teamwork. We can't wait to celebrate this next chapter with all of the people we love.
